Setting Up Users and Channels

Create a User



Users define the people who can sign into your organisation’s communication system using a terminal.

To create a user, first navigate to the Terminals section in the Portal.

Once there, find the Terminals (within subscription) panel and select ‘Add Handset’.


You will then be prompted to provide a username for your handset user. This username must be 10 characters or fewer long and can only contain letters and numbers.

For users who will be utilising the BN220 or will otherwise be very unlikely to change what handset they use to sign in, you can also provide the handset’s phone number here to automatically sign the handset in.

Once you are done, select ‘Create Handset User’. Your new user should now be displayed in the list of Terminals.

Create a Channel



Now we have people who can sign in, we need a channel for them to communicate on. Users can only communicate with other users via standard PTT if they are signed into the same channel

To create a new channel, head to the Channels section in the Portal and select 'Add Channel’ in the Channels panel.



You will then be prompted to provide a name for your channel. This username must be 9 characters or fewer and can only contain letters and numbers.

Once you are done, select ‘Create Channel’.

Your new channel should now be displayed in the Channels panel.


You can now assign users to a channel through the Channel Allocations panel.

Select the row of the user you wish to assign to a channel, and mark the checkbox in the column of the channel you wish to assign them to.
